A very simple cat's face appears in 'Origami: Book Two' by Florence Sakade, which was published by the Charles E Tuttle Company in Rutland, Vermont and Tokyo in 1958

A compound cut design for a 'Gato' (cat) appears in (the Spanish version of) 'Happy Origami: Swallow Book' by Tatsuo Miyawaki, which was published by Biken-Sha in 1960. The head is uncut but the body is shaped using a cut.
