Honda's Compound Horse | |||||||
This
page is being used to collect information about the
history of the paperfolding design I call Honda's
Compound Horse. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. This design is made from two bird bases, glued together. Cuts are used to create the ears. The same design, with minor variations in the way the legs are folded, the size of the ears and the pose of the tail, also appears under other names such as Dog or Fox etc. Where the variations are minor I have recorded all these appearances on this one page. Where they are more substantial, eg where the ears have been made considerably larger to suggest a Donkey, I have not recorded the appearances here. The front half of the design also appears as part of other compound designs such as a Seated Fox. ********** 1941 As far as I know this design was first published by Isao Honda in an article in 'Origami Handicraft' in 1941, although I have not seen a copy of the article in question. ********** A version of the Compound Horse also appears: 1944 In 'Origami Shuko' by Isao Honda, which was published by Sangyo Tosho Publishing Co.
