Some decorations folded from octagons may also function as purses / containers. ********** 1890 Diagrams for these two designs appear in 'Exercises Methodiques de Travaux Manuels' by Jean Boogaerts, which was published in Belgium and France in 1890. In the case of the left hand pattern, each corner is folded into the centre in turn. In the case of the right hand pattern, each edge is folded into the centre in turn. In both cases the result looks like the far right hand picture. ********** 1944 Diagrams for a decoration from an octagon appear in 'Origami Shuko' by Isao Honda, which was published in 1944. ********** 1940 An unnamed Octagonal Decoaration appears ass 'Cuadrado Imbricado Roseta' in 'El Plegado y Cartonaje en la Escuela Primaria' by Antonio M Luchia and Corina Luciani de Luchia, which was published by Editorial Kapelusz in Buenos Aires in 1940. ********** 1960 The design that appeared in Origami Shuko also appears, as 'An Octangular Incense Case' in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960. ********** 1965 This decoration appears in 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published in the USA by Japan Publications Trading Company in 1965. . ********** |
