1890

'Exercises Methodiques de Travaux Manuels' by Jean Boogaerts, which was published in Belgium and France in 1890, contains a methods of dividing an edge into fifths. It is not clear whether this method uses folding or whether the necessary marks are made using a pen.

A way of dividing a square into a 5x5 grid is given in 'Trabajo Manual' by C Champy Alvear, which was published by Cabaut y Cia in Buenos Aires in 1913.
