In 1996 a friend
suggested that Gerald Jenkins, then the
proprieter of Tarquin publications, might publish
a book of my modular designs. I sent him a letter
and a shoebox full of models. He replied
enthusiastically and the result was my first
book, Mathematical Origami. A second book, the
Magic of Flexagons soon followed. Since then I
have had the good fortune to be contracted to
write and illustrate books by a number of other
publishers. This is good for the bank balance ...
though perhaps not as good as you might think ...
but commercial publishers, quite rightly, want to
publish books that will sell and so are not
interested in books about the more esoteric
aspects of origami design. For this reason I have
also set up my own imprint, Water Trade, which
allows me to pander to my own rather more
specialised interests and tastes. Water Trade books
can be purchased at a discount price from https://www.tarquingroup.com/books.html or from any good
online book retailer.
