| Sunny Origami: Swan Book by Keinichi Fukuda, 1968 | |||||||
'Sunny Origami: Swan Book' by Keinichi Fukuda was published by Jomo Kagaku Kogyosha in Japan in 1968 and distributed by Japan Publications Trading Company. The 1968 date is given in David Lister's article on Circular Origami which can be accessed here. The work shown on this page has a copyright date of 1971. I believe, however, that the date for the original publication given by David Lister is correct (although I have not seen documentary proof of this). I have no reason to suppose that the contents of the 1971 version and the 1968 original were different. Note that the titular swans, which appear on the cover, are not explained inside the work. The work is one in a series of 10 works by the same author. Details of the other works in the series can be found on the page about the earliest of the works, 'Sunny Origami: Angel Book'. All these books are of a similar format and explain ways of making designs by combining simple pictorial elements, made from folded, and often cut, paper circles of varying sizes, into multipiece collages. These books do not use standard origami diagrams, but, instead, contain a folded exemplar of each design together with a simple explanation of how each of the pieces that make up the design is to be folded / cut. My grateful thanks to the British Origami Society for letting me see a copy of this work. **********
