history of the paperfolding design known as The Doubled

information that should be added. Thank you. This design is made by weaving two strips of paper together. Once finished, it possesses pockets that allow other strips of paper to be threaded through it in two directiions at right angles to each other, facilitating the construction of many interesting modular forms. ********** 1890 As far as I know this design first appears in 'Exercises Methodiques de Travaux Manuels' by Jean Boogaerts, which was published in Belgium and France in 1890. ********** The same design appears: 1900 In 'Construction Work in Cardboard and Paper' by Robert M Smith, which was published by A Flanagan Co in Chicago in 1900. ********** |
