Folded Paper Bow Ties | |||||||
This
page us being used to collect information about Bow Ties
made by folding paper. Please contact me if you know any
of this information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. ********** 1940 Diagrams for a design called 'Bow Knot Money' (an adaptation by Mitchell Dyszel of the Lover's Knot from a dollar bill which places Washington's face in the knot) were published in 1940 in the magic magazine 'The Jinx' no 106 on page 636B (the rear of a resubscription advert). Information from Edwin Corrie.
********** Another Bow (with Washington's face in the knot) appears in 'Bill Folds' by Al O'Hagan, a 6-page leaflet issued by George Snyder's Magic Shop of Cleveland, Ohio in 1945. ********** 1952 A 'Bow-Tie' dollar bill fold appeared in an article by Gershon Legman in 'The Phoenix' issue 251 of March 21st 1952, together with a discussion of the various forms of Bow-Tie designs then known. Information from Edwin Corrie. From the way the article is written it seems a reasonable assumption that Legman is the originator of this design. ********** 1963 The Legman dollar bill Bow Tie also appears in 'The Folding Money Book', which was published by The Ireland Magic Co in Chicago in 1963. ********** c1970 A version of the Legman dollar bill fold, but from a 2x1 rectangle, appeared in in 'Origami Compendium No 1' by Robert harbin, which was published c1970. It is not attributed to Gershon Legman. ********** |
