The Folding Money Book by Adolfo Cerceda Plus Make Money Selling Money! by William E King, 1963 | |||||||
'The
Folding Money Book' by Adolfo Cerceda Plus 'Make Money
Selling Money' by William E King was published by The
Ireland Magic Co in Chicago in 1963. As the title of the
works suggest this is two works packaged as one, the
first a set of paperfolding designs and the second a
sales manual. The title of the first part of the work on
the cover is just 'Folding Money', but on the title page
it is 'The Folding Money Book'. The work is aimed at magicians. It encourages them to use money folding as a means of income, not only by demonstrating the folding process but also by selling the finished items. The section 'About the Author' makes it clear that Adolpho Cerceda selected the designs and drew the folding instructions. Despite the fact that his name is on the cover, he is clearly not the author of the book in the normal sense. The author of the second part is William E King, of the Hagerstown Trust bank, who set up a Gift Shop of money related items within the bank premises (some of which involve folding dollar bills). The introduction to the second part says, inter alia: Only two of the designs, the Peacock and the Frame with Doors are said to be by Cerceda. The Frog, which is not folded from a dollar bill, is said to be based on a design by Akira Yoshizawa, which presumably implies that Cerceda has adapted it for publication in this work. **********
