history of the paperfolding design I call Honda's

This design is made from two bird bases, presumably glued together, but without using cuts. ********** 1958 A photograph of what appears to be an early version of this design appears in 'Origami: Japanese Paper Folding: Monkey Book', which was published in English by Toto Shuppan Co Ltd in 1958.
********** 1959 A photograph of a more sophisticated version appears in 'Origami: Japanese Paper Folding - Sakura Book' by Isao Honda was published in English by The Asahi Origami Club in 1959
********** 1960 Diagrams appear in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960. The legs on both parts of the design are separated using cuts.
