A method of constructing a rhombus from an oblong is given in an article by J Marteau in 'Manuel General de L'Instruction Primaire' of 2nd June 1894.

Two methods are given in 'Pliage et Decoupage du Papier' by C Savineau, which was published by Librairie Hatchette et Cie in Paris in 1897.rom a square.
