The Best of Origami by Samuel Randlett, 1963 | |||||||
'The
Best of Origami: New Models by Contemporary Folders' by
Samuel Randlett was published by E P Dutton in New York
in 1963 and by Faber and Faber Ltd in London in 1964. The
Faber and Faber edition was reprinted in 1973 with
changes to the bibliography. It does contain some deigns
by the author and one design said to be traditional
Chinese, but, as one would expect from the title, the
majority of the work consists of an explanation of
designs by other contemporary paperfolders. The book contains: A Preface by Martin Gardner which contains the information: ********** A Foreword by the author. A technical introduction to folding symbols and procedures. Scattered throughout the text are photographs, some of which show designs that are not explained in the work. Short biographies of the various contributors. A bibliography. (The bibliography in my version is clearly not original but from the 1973 reprint as it mentions books not published in 1964.) ********** The Designs (Not in the order in which they appear in the book.)
