Tanzen hinagata, 1704

'Tanzen hinagata' by Imura Katsuyoshi, which is a pattern book for kosode, a forerunner of the kimono, was published in three parts, upper, middle and lower, in 1704. I have only seen the lower part.

A full copy of the lower part can be accessed online here.

The Takarabune

According to 'Origami koten ni miru origami' Origami in the Classics) by Satoshi Takagi, which was published by the the Yasuhiro Sano, publishing office, Nippon Origami Association, in 1993, this pattern for a kosode featuring several Takarabune appears in the work. It is not in the lower so must be in either the upper or middle parts.

The Paper Crane

The same sources contains another design for a kosode featuring Paper Cranes which is also said to appear in this work. It is not in the lower so must be in either the upper or middle parts.

The Pentagonal Knot

The lower contains a woodcut that shows a pentagonal knot, though whether it is folded from paper or cloth is difficult to determine. If from paper, then it is most probably a folded letter.
