'Rupert' was published by The Daily Express in 1959. It contains a story 'Rupert and the Copper Bird' and folding instructions showing 'How to make Rupert's Paper Bird' (a paper version of the copper bird featured in the story) and 'Rupert's Gay Party Cap' (a version of The Kabuto), as worn by Rupert at Pong Ping's party in the same story (see below)

(This design had previously appeared as 'Another Hat' in 'Paper Magic' by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne in London in 1956.)

The paper bird is otherwise unknown and so probably an original design by Alfred Bestall.
