Article in Reader's Digest Magazine (USA) August 1970

This article is 'condensed' from an article which appeared in 'Beacon Magazine of Hawaii' in July 1970.

The original of this article would have been in colour but I only have scans in monochrome.

My thanks to Rob Snyder for sharing his copy of this article with me.

The main differences to the original article are:

Some of the text of the original article has been omitted.

The Yoshizawa self-portrait which appears here is a much better, more three-dimensional, likeness than the one that appeared in the original article. My thanks to Michael LaFosse for pointing this out to me.

Many of the other designs are shown in a single photo rather than separately. A new design, 'a Japanese Empress' (ie a hina doll) is included. Only part of the Giraffe is shown.

The attributions of 'Whistler's Mother' to Fred Rohm and the Giraffe to George Rhoads have disappeared, giving the impression that they too are Yoshizawa's designs.
