| Poem by Flores in Avisador del Comercio, Havana, September 1847 | |||||||
This poem by Flores. Rougly translated, the relevent section reads: 'Well, if you're a father and your little boy shouts, 'It's not bad paper for a paper bird (pajarita).'' And: 'if the boy cries you'll be drooling with laughter, snipping the paper, and without delay improvising boats, caps and bonnets (barcos, gorras, bonetes), because if I can't come up with good verses at least the paper will be of some use.' **********
