Onna fuhzoku tama kagami by Nishikawa Sukenobu, 1732 | |||||||
'Onna fuhzoku tama kagami' by Nishikawa Sukenobu was published in two parts, an upper and a lower, in 1732. The upper contains several prints featuring paperfolding content. A full copy of both parts of the work is available online here. ********** The subject of this print is the Hina Doll Festival. The ladies (or perhaps children) on the left are folding paper. One is inflating a Paper Crane. There are also a completed Komoso and Paper Boat (the version with three sails) lying on the floor. The print also shows paper sake container decorations. ********** This print shows a wedding in progress. In the top print (the left page of the pair) one of the women is holding a sake kettle with a folded paper butterfly attached. In nthe lower right corner of the lower print (the right page of the pair) a formal wrapper, perhaps a noshi, lies on a table. ********** |
