1891/2

As far as I know instructions for making the Sister of Charity figure first appeared in L'Illustration 2507 of 14th March 1891 and were then included in Volume 2 of 'La Science Amusante' by Tom Tit (real name Arthur Good), which was published in Paris by Librairie Larousse in 1892. The design also appeared in some of the many republications / translations of this work, detaiuls of which can be found on the page about The Paperfolding of Arthur Good.

1915

An article in 'Los Muchachos' of 26th December 1915 explains how to make a Sister of Charity ie 'Una tarjeta convertida en una hermana de la caridad' (a visiting card turned into a sister of charity) by cutting and folding it.
