The Pentagonal Rosette Star / The Thin-Pointed Pentagonal Rosette Star | |||||||
This page is being used to collecxt information about the history of the paperfolding design I call The Pentagonal Rosette Star. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you. This design is developed from The Pentagonal Rosette (an analogue of the Windmill folded from a pentagon) and can be made in normal and thin-pointed versions (The Thin-Pointed Hexagonal Rosette Star), the latter being made by thinning the outer edges of the points. ********** 1894 As far as I know these stars first appear in an article by J Marteau in Manuel General de L'Instruction Primaire of 1st December 1894. The method of making the Pentagonal Rosette is explained in words but not illustrated: The Pentagonal Rosette is then developed into the Pentagonal Rosette Star by squashing the flaps and into the Thin Pentagonal Rosette Star by thinning the outer edges of the squashed flaps. ********** The article then explains how to make a 'background' that fits around the star to create a colour-change effect. ********** |
