This
page attempts to record what is known about the origin
and history of the origami design I call The Parrot.
Please contact me if you know any of this information is
incorrect or if you have any other information that
should be added. Thank you. This design is folded from a 60/120 degree rhombus. This design first occurs in the books of Isao Honda and is possibly his original design. ********** 1960 As far as I know this design first appears as 'A Parrot' in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960. ********** 1961 A similar but cut design appears as 'Macaw' in 'Origami Zoo: Bird Book' by Isao Honda was published by Toto Shuppan Co. Ltd in 1961. ********** 1965 The 'Macaw' version also appears in 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Japan Publications Trading Company in the USA in 1965. In this case a cut is used to create the crest. ********** |
