This design first occurs in the books of Isao Honda and is probably his original design.

As far as I know this design first appears as 'An Ostrich' in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960.

As 'Ostrich' in 'Origami Zoo: Bird Book' by Isao Honda was published by Toto Shuppan Co. Ltd in 1961.
