The Narrow Hat is a variation of the Newspaper Hat. ********** In Japan (and in publications by Japanese authors) 1944 'Origami Shuko' by Isao Honda, which was published in 1944, contains diagrams for the Narrow hat (decorated with an Imperial Flag).
********** 1960 The Narrow hat appears as 'A Hood' in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960.
********** As 'A Hood' in 'Pocket Guide to Origami: Bow-Wow Book', by Isao Honda, which was published by the Asahi Origami Club, Tokyo in 1960.
********** 1965 As 'Paper Hat' in 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published in the USA by Japan Publications Trading Company in 1965.
********** In Western Europe and the Americas 1923 'Falten und Formen mit Papier' by Richard Rothe which was published by Deutscher Verlag für Jugend und Volk in Vienna and Leipzig in 1923, contains an illustration of 'Nikolomühe' (St Nicholas' hat, bag or mask), which is made by folding in and interlocking the two sides of a Newspaper Hat.
********** 1955 The Narrow Hat appears as 'Another sort of hat!' in 'Children's Playbook' by Aart van Breda was published by Faber and Faber Ltd in London in 1955.
