The Minogame / Ancient Turtle

The design is developed from the Tenjin Shrine base.

1894

As far as I know this design first appears in appears in issue 11 of the Japanese children's magazine 'Shokokumin' in 1894 under the title Game (Turtle). The Tenjin Shrine base is called the Tenmangu Shrine here.

1935

A similar design, although the legs are developed differently, appears in 'Origami Moyo, Book One', by Kawarazaki Kodo, which was published by Unsodo in Japan in 1935.
