and history of the origami design I call The Inflatable Octopus.

This design is made from a frog base using cuts to separate the legs This design first occurs in the books of Isao Honda and is possibly his original design. ********** 1931 As far as I know this design first appears in 'Origami (Part 1)' by Isao Honda, which was first published in Japan in 1931. ********** The same design appears: 1960 As 'An Octopus' in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960. ********** 1965 In 'Secrets of Origami', by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne Book Company in London in 1964. ********** 1967 As 'Octopus' in 'Origami Festival' by Isao Honda, which was published by Japan Publications Inc in Tokyo in 1967. ********** 1968 In 'Your Book of Paperfolding' by Vanessa and Eric de Maré, which was published by Faber and Faber in London in 1968, where it was is to be a traditional Japanese design. ********** |
