page attempts to record what is known about the origin
and history of the origami design I call The Cut Snail.

should be added. Thank you. A cut is used to create the horns. This design first occurs in the books of Isao Honda and is quite possibly his original design. ********** 1960 As far as I know this design first appears in 'All About Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Toto Bunka Company, Limited in Tokyo in 1960.
********** The same design appears: 1965 In 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published by Japan Publications Trading Company in the USA in 1965.
********** 1967 As 'Snail' in 'Origami Folding Fun: Pony Book' by Isao Honda was published by Japan Publications Inc in Tokyo in 1967.
