1931

As far as I know this design, and its decorative variant the Incense Box, first appear in 'Origami (Part 1)' by Isao Honda, which was first published in Japan in 1931.

1965

In 'The World of Origami' by Isao Honda, which was published in the USA by Japan Publications Trading Company in 1965.

In Western Europe / The USA

1939

The design also appears, as 'Mi cajita' (My little box), in 'El Mundo de Papel' by Dr Nemesio Montero was published by G Miranda in Edicions Infancia in Valladolid in 1939.
