The Blunt-Ended Boat | |||||||
This
page attempts to record what is known about the origin
and history of the Blunt Ended Boat and its variant the
Canoe. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. ********** 1895 The Boy's Own Paper of 24th August 1895 contained diagrams for a blunt-ended paper boat invented by Sidney V North, which was folded from a 4x1 strip of paper. ********** 1954 Folding instructions for the same blunt-ended boat, and a sharp ended version, titled 'Paper Canoe', appeared in the 1954 Rupert Annual. ********** 1956 A version of the Blunt Ended Boat also appears, just as 'Another Boat', in 'Paper Magic' by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne in London in 1956 ********** |
