This page is being used to collect information about the history of Creatures with Pleated Wings / Tail. Please contact me if you know any of this information is incorrect or if you have any other information that should be added. Thank you. ********** 1931 A photograph showing birds, a butterfly and a dragonfly made using pleated elements to represent wings and tails appears in the revised 3rd edition of 'Lustiges Papierfaltbüchlein' by Johanna Huber, which was published by Otto Maier in Ravensburg, Germany in 1931.The text does not, however, mention either the photograph or the designs. ********** 1938 An illustration of two of the designs from 'Lustiges Papierfaltbüchlein', but no accompanying text, appears in 'Spielzeug - Eine bunte Fibel' by Hans-Friedrich Geist and Alfred Mahlau, which was published by L Staadman Verlag in Leipzig in 1938. ********** 1940 The 5th edition of 'Lustiges Papierfaltbüchlein' by Johanna Huber included the same photograph as the 1931 edition but also contained some accompanying text, saying,: 'Beautiful fairy-tale birds and butterflies can also be made from the accordion folds' and which also goes on to describe how the designs are made. ********** |
