Love's Labour's Lost by William Shakespeare, 1598
 

The earliest known edition of 'Love's Labour's Lost' by William Shakespeare was published in 1598, although it was most probably written sometime earlier in the 1590s. Act 4 scene 1 contains a reference to a 'capon' which is a type of folded love-letter known in France as a 'poulet'. See Paper Poulet.
