La historia del matrimonio by Antonio Flores, 1852

Page 22 of this work contains mentions of making a pajara with paper. The design is also referred to as a pajarita de papel, thus showing the equivalence of the two names at this date.

There is no specific detail that would enable us to definitively identify this pajara as the Cocotte / Pajarita design, but, at this date, it would seem likely that this is what the author intended.

The relevant passages say, roughly translated:

'that little gentleman with the blue tie, who is making a pajarita de papel, is going to marry my daughter'

and

'he surreptitiously picked up the paper she threw on the ground and is making a pajara with it.'
