The first edition of 'Infant Education' by Samuel Wilderspin was published in 1823, the second in 1824 and the 3rd in 1825. Each successive edition contained additional material. The following anecdote appears in the 1825 3rd Edition but not in the previous two.

The author claims to have first folded the paper 'into a variety of forms' and then failed to fold it into the form of a paper boat, having forgotten the folding method.

Unfortunately this passage contains insufficient detail to enable us to know which particular paper boat the author intended, but was unable, to make.
