Historiettes by Tallemant Des Reaux, 1659 | |||||||
Tallemant Des Reaux wrote his 'Historiettes' during the period 1657/9, although they were not published in print until 1836. Book 9 contains mention of a mute man who 'folded linen admirably well into all sorts of animals', although no further details are given. These pages are taken from the 3rd Edition published in 1862. The footnotes, added by the editor of this edition, says, 'There was then a very special art of folding the table linen into all sorts of shapes' and refers to the satire 'Description de Isle des Hermaphrodites' which was published in 1724 and also mentions folded serviettes. ********** ********** ********** |
