'Geometrie,
Dessin et Travaux Manuels - Cours Moyen', produced under
the direction of M E. Cazes, was published by Librairie
Ch. Delagrave in Paris in 1895. It contains several
references to the first part of the work which dealt with
the Cours Elementaire. Chapters 1 to 5 which feature paperfolding are reproduced below. A full copy of the work can be accessed at Manuels anciens: Cazes, Géométrie, Dessin et Travaux manuels, Cours Moyen (1895) Much of these chapters is devoted to mathematical paperfolds, not all of which are recorded separately on their own specific pages. ********** La Croix de Malte / Fold and Cut Maltese Cross ********** Diviser un angle en trois parties egale / Dividing an angle into three equal parts ********** The Table (not named in the text) ********** Etoiles a quatres pointes sur les diagonales d'un carre / Folds of Beauty
********** La somme des angles d'un triangle vaut deux angles droit (The sum of the angles of a triangle is equal to two right angles) Summing the angles of a triangle ********** Etoiles hexagonales / The Non-Woven Star of David The text says that if several are folded from different sizes of paper, 'By introducing them one into the other we obtain a multi-coloured star with the most beautiful effect'.This multi-piece version is, of course, a modular design.
********** Le Bonnet a Police / The Pyramidal Hat ********** Le Bateau Plat (Flat Boat) or Barque / The Paper Boat ********** Hexagone regulier / Fold and One Cut Hexagon ********** Etoile a six pointes / Star of David Pattern from a Hexagon ********** Bonnet de Magicien / Magic Hat (Note that with the top point folded down inside the other layers the bonnet de magicien becomes another bonnet de police.) ********** Boite Cubique / Waterbomb (Note the way in which the flaps are inserted into the pockets) ********** ********** |
