Shukou-ka Kyoju Saimoku, 1891

'Shukou-ka Kyoju Saimoku' (Teaching Details of Handicrafts Course) was compiled by the Nagano Prefecture Normal School Attached Elementary School and published in Meiji 40 (1891). Inter alia it contains illustrations of a number of paperfolding designs suggested for use in the four years of elementary school and a number of illustrations of symmetrical fold and cut designs. I have only included the paperfolding designs in the Analysis.

The heading above each of the four sections of paperfolding designs reads 'Origami Zaiku' (Origami Craft). This is one of the earliest known instances of the use of the word 'origami' in the modern sense.

A full copy of the work is included on this page.
