1923

As far as I know the first appearance of this design is as 'Snap Goblin' in 'More Paper Magic' by Will Blyth, which was published by C Arthur Pearson in London in 1923.

1932

The same design, but with the addition of three small cuts, and titled 'Snap Dragon', subsequently appeared in 'Winter Nights Entertainments' by R M Abraham, which was published by Constable and Constable in London in 1932.

1953

The 1953 Rupert Annual contained instructions for making the Snapdragon under the title 'How To Make A Paper Snapper'.

1956

The design also appears, as 'Snapper 2', in 'Paper Magic' by Robert Harbin, which was published by Oldbourne in London in 1956.
