| This
page is being used to collect information about the
history of the paperfolding design known as the
Battleship. Please contact me if you know any of this
information is incorrect or if you have any other
information that should be added. Thank you. This design is developed from The King's Crown, with the addition of other elements to model the funnels and gun barrels (which are inserted into slits). ********** 1928 As far as I know this design first appears in 'Fun with Paperfolding' by William D Murray and Francis J Rigney, which was published by the Fleming H Revell Company, New York in 1928.
********** 1940 There is an illustration of the same design in 'Aus papier: gefaltet, gefalzt, geklebt', which was published by Deutscher Verlag in Berlin in 1940.
********** The same design appears: 1961 As 'The Steamboat' in 'How to Make Things Out of Paper', which is a translation into English, published in 1961 by Sterling Publishing Co Inc in New York, of Walter Sperling's 1955 book 'Papier-Spiele'.
