It is worth noting that although many of these designs would seem to fall within the category of what we now call minimalist designs they were not minimalist in intent but simply simple designs that children could fold and explaore at an early stage of their educational development.

The Sandbox

The Sandbox appears in 'De Kleine Papierwerkers', written by Elise Van Calcar and published by K H Schadd in Amsterdam in 1863, and as far as I know nowhere else. A sandbox was a standard piece of equipment in kindergarten.
