'Manuel des fondateurs et des directeurs des premières écoles de l'enfance, connues sous le nom de salles d'asile' by M. Cochin, was published by Hachette in Paris in 1833. It contains a small section on the use of paperfolding to teach simple geometric concepts.

I have not seen a copy of the first edition. This page is based on the second edition published in 1834.

Inter alia, roughly translated this passage says:

'A sheet of paper ... can be folded to form right, acute or obtuse angles at will.'

and

'With a sheet of paper folded at a right angle the use of a set-square is demonstrated. It is also successively given the shape of a triangle, a square, a rectangle, a rhombus, a trapezoid and various polygons'.
