Introduction

Baroness Bertha von Marenholz-Bulow was born in 1810 and died in 1893. She was the main promoter of Froebelian ideas following Froebel's death in 1852.

Elise Van Calcar describes in her book 'Foebel's Methode' how, in 1858, she met Baroness Bertha von Marenholz-Bulow and became a convert to the Froebelian cause. These paragraphs contain a description of Baroness Bertha von Marenholz-Bulow and her bag of Froebelian 'toys' by an observant writer.
