Articles in Anales de Primera Ensenanza by Mariano Carderera, 1860

'Anales de Primera Ensenanza. Periodico de las escuelas y de los maestros' (Annals of Primary Education: Periodical for Schools and Teachers) was a journal published in Madrid from 1859 to at least 1866. Inter alia, issues from the years 1859 and 1860 contained a series of articles titled 'Jardines de Infancia' by Mariano Carderera which summarised the material about the Froebelian gifts and occupations found in 'Manuel Pratique de Jardin D'Enfants' by J F Jacobs. (Information from Juan Gimeno.)

Some of the articles published in the 1860 issues gave information about 'El Plegado' (Falten), 'El Entrelazado' (Verschnuren) and 'Recortado' (Ausschneiden und Aufkleben).

A full copy of the 1860 issues can be accessed online here.

Plegado

The opening paragraph of this section contains the words, roughly translated: 'The square of paper that Froebel gives the child, which is nothing less than the one used to make a bird ...', the original words being 'una pajara' and presumably a reference to the pajarita.
